I was completely seduced by this first book in the Landry Family series! It is a unique and compelling tale of finding true love while being true to yourself in the cut-throat political environment. I really like Barrett and Alison because they are so genuine and believable, and I really love them together. They have fun, their banter is witty and they challenge each other. They have great chemistry and their fiery passion is off the charts. Their relationship isn't easy but they try to work through all of their vulnerabilities and insecurities as well as the outside forces trying to separate them.
Ms. Locke is also a master at creating interesting and authentic secondary characters. I loved Alison's son, Huxley, who is an adorable little man. He was a great addition to this story along with the whole Landry family, and I can't wait to read their stories as well. This is such a well rounded story that flows so naturally from one scene to the next. There are so many sweet moments but so many intense, heart pounding, and thrilling events as well. I loved that Ms. Locke didn't rely on angst to drive her story but created a clever and exquisite adventure that I didn't want to end!

I'm so glad that I decided to read this book. 4 stars because I personally felt like the climax of this book could have been a lot better, but I was fairly satisfied with the story line. Few minor grammars, but still able to fill in the holes.

Barret - a man of politics, women, and no time to relax. Every move he made was watch. Girls wanted him, men envy him, and his family loved him. I love Barret's family and I cannot wait to meet the other siblings. What made Barret such a great man his loyalty, humor, and passion. I love how he was interested into just into Alison, but also Huxley. Men will be stupid but Barret made even stupid look like loyalty.

Alison - A single mother who works hard. She goes to school, have 2 jobs and has Huxley. I don't blame Alison's fear into falling in love again, especially with a politician. With her history, I would want to stay away too. But I'm so glad that she didn't let that fear get in her way of actually wanting something. Her heart was always on the line and she was constantly walking a shaky bridge, but even she knew that if she fell into the river, she refuse to drown.

I love how Huxley played and important role in Alison's life. I honestly think Huxley is Alison's foundation, her sanity, and her strength. Huxley is such a great kid, so mature, and he had to grow up fairly quick. He's so protective of Alison and I admire that from him. Huxley spoke words from his heart, and that just shows how much he really love his mother. Ugh, I won't say the quote, but there is a line towards the end of the book where Huxley is speaking to Barret and it just broke my heart! For all 3 of them!

I can't wait to start the rest of the series! Adriana Locke has done a pretty good job depicting her characters! I love it so much! I don't I can ever look at grapes though. Guess you'll just have to read the series to understand what I'm saying.
This book got a lot of great reviews but for me it was very predictable. Unsure about the connection between H/ h. I think Huxley was a cool kid but Barrett came across as weak and needed some backbone. Allison was strong but her inner dialogue became tiresome. Not sure I'll read the next book. This was hard to finish.

Hopefully the series will get better.
